Savannah Mullis, UNF Undergrad Intern, Spring 2024
My name is Savannah Mullis, I recently completed a 150hour internship at Rebound Rehab in St. Augustine from January-April 2024. This was a requirement to complete my bachelors degree, I chose this clinic because I plan to attend PT school starting fall of 2025. This clinic was the closest physical therapy office to my house.
I cannot begin to express how much I loved this clinic from the patients to the employees. I mainly shadowed Riley who taught me so much about PT, she explained to me why she did everything she was doing and how it would help the patient in the future. Riley taught me a lot about the body, but she also taught me PT exercises to help with different kinds of pain. I remember a patient coming in with headaches, after a couple weeks of rehab on this patient’s neck the headaches started to disappear. This is one example I’ll always remember. I never thought pt would or could help headaches. I am so inspired by the PT’s at rebound. This experience made me love physical therapy even more.
My internship here has taught me so many things from how to interact better with patients, what questions to ask during an evaluation, and what exercises help with specific pain. From this internship I feel more prepared to start PT school, I feel like I have a better background going into PT school.
This clinic gave me an experience I will never forget. I was nervous to start but I’m so glad I did! Rebound rehab was the perfect clinic for my internship. I’m beyond grateful for the time and patience they took upon me to teach me and let me learn!
