Alexis Jones, SPT, University Of St Augustine, Summer 2024
My name is Alexis Jones. I completed my last clinical rotation at Rebound Rehabilitation in Jax Beach. Upon doing research into different clinics in Jacksonville, I found myself on Rebound’s website. Their site is incredibly detailed with the services they offer and different conditions they treat. Under the internship program tab, I found their core value statement that said “ A core value of Rebound Rehabilitation’s staff is the commitment to “raising the bar” and advancing the physical therapy profession to which I appreciated. Along with that, Rebound had great reviews online. Therefore, I pursued a clinical rotation here.
My overall experience at Rebound in Jax Beach was amazing. On my first day everyone was so welcoming and laid back. The atmosphere here is great. I truly appreciate the opportunity to work with my CI, Brian Borden who has over 17 years of experience. He and the rest of the staff welcomed me with open arms. I had the opportunity to perform ESTIM and ultrasound and see/learn all about deep tissue laser therapy.
The collaborative environment at Rebound Rehabilitation contributed significantly to my professional growth. Interacting with clinicians and staff gave me insights into the interdisciplinary nature of healthcare. I learned how important communication and teamwork are in ensuring seamless patient care. Discussions with therapists about their decision-making processes and the rationale behind treatment choices provided me with a deeper understanding of clinical reasoning.
The quality of care provided at Rebound is exactly as their core value states. They raise the bar. Patients seek care from Brian because of the positive outcomes he has had over the years. Patients who have received therapy here before come back when other issues arise that they need therapy for. When you walk in you can see all of the hand written testimonials that patients have done outlining their success and gratitude. At Rebound, they are committed to patient-centered care.
My experience at Rebound has helped me grow personally and professionally. The PT school that I go to is very manual based and I appreciated the fact that Brian believes in and practices hands on therapy. He has shown me manual techniques that have worked for him and I got the chance to practice them on patients every single day. I saw first hand the influence hands on therapy has on building trust and rapport with patients. Brian took the time to teach me the ins and outs of insurance, which is not something emphasized in PT school.
I am thankful for the opportunity to work alongside such amazing people and to learn from Brian. I would recommend Rebound to any and every student pursuing an ortho rotation in the area.
